I learnt about a designer Katie Jones, that uses surplus yarn and cut off leather pieces to create fashion garments. I was so inspired by her in my practical work from the V&A exhibition that I wanted to write my dissertation on her work, however when doing my initial research, I failed to trying to get into contact with her, despite knowing someone who knows her and having her email address. Because of this I did then go onto to change my dissertation but around the same subject that I’m hugely inspired by, I did this because I wanted primary research as well as secondary. If I had enough time, I would have tried her a few more times and tried to arrange a meeting or phone call interview so that I could ask to follow up questions to get more information. I was inspired by her for my practical which inspired me then to write about this question for my thesis. I firstly loved her use of surplus material to create something beautiful from something that would have been thrown away, her bold and vibrant colour also really catch my eye.
