We had a visiting lecture from BAM's sustainability expert, Merryn; who gave us such an interesting walkabout their company and their ethos. This really added to my inspiration to research sustainability because it such a current issue and there is so much to learn about it, her passion about it really showed when she was speaking about her travels and primary research.

They describe themselves as a impact positive company, working in proactive way to have a positive effect on the environment; working closely with certificied suppliers, ethically and who share the same values.

Bamboo is the fastest growing crop in the world, needing only very little water and yielding ten percent higher than cotton from the same area; onto of that the crop can grow in difficult conditions such as on slants and hills. When the bamboo is harvest/ cut it simply starts to grow again (like a grass) which means it doesn't need to be uprooted and plated again like trees, so takes a lot less energy and time grow. however she did go onto say that it is only sustainable if it is grown sustainably.

I find this company so innovate and inspiring because of their new way of creating clothes from something that is fast growing and doesn't take up a lot of resources. BAM clothing prides its self on being transparent and honest with the information that they have found, which is one of the main reason I love it so much. I hate being told tat a company is sustainable as an marketing strategy because consumers attitudes needs to be changed and this can only happen when empowered with the information.
